What is your favorite canning variety of cucumber ?
Currently using Arkansas Little Leaf. Heirloom variety a must , wondering about other options.
Fresh table use not as important as pickling performance. Blight resistance a plus . Anyone have suggestions of a variety of cucumber to try ?

English cucumbers are good if you want a thinner skinned pickle Try to get seeds for them . Was a time I grew them in my garden , but never let any go to seed . It's almost impossible to get seeds now . I'm under the impression he's looking to grow some in his garden for pickling .

National Pickling is my preferred cultivar. Hey warrior so I don't have to search a bunch of posts for it, what was that purple pole bean you mentioned awhile back called?

Has anyone ever tried Wautoma cucumber for pickling. A friend of mine worked with USDA developing this cucumber and said the whole pickle will be crisp. Ive had problems with pickles being soft in ctr but crisp on skin.

Ive had problems with pickles being soft in ctr but crisp on skin. I've always quartered into spears to avoid that. But I'll definitely look onto that one. The other way I want to try is lime pickles. I eaten them and like them but never put them up for myself.

They breed true so you can save seed without worry. Though they do throw a green sport. Every year I'll have one vine per 100' row that'll be green in vine and pod. The pod being somewhat flatter kind of like a ky wonder. Never saved seed of that one but it still pops up from time to time. Maybe I should and see what I get.
