I know there are a few on the market beens years since i tried any because of poor results.

This is my list of deciding factors

1) lack of tackiness. I have all summer to let traps dry but expect them to be completely dry

2) ease of use

3) longevity I have 4 or 5 tokes full of traps i bought and not put to use yet so dont want them rusting

4) Number of traps treated to gallon of dip

Thanks for your help.

I use just regular old speed dip, mixed 6 or 7 to 1, with regular unleaded gasoline.

Marine spar varnish , it take time to cure but it's tough as nails.

Use good quality mineral spirits to dilute 50-50. If you don't dilute it will dry extremely slow and build up. 2 or more coats. Let cure well between coats.

This, but I have to go a bit heavier on the acetone due to my cool temperatures and high humidity. I also treat my 120’s used for marten with the described mix. I can usually get around for years from the treatment before rust spots begin to appear.

I just did a few 750's yesterday and dipped them in Rustoleum and acetone on some and also did a few with flat black Rustoleum spray paint. If you have a lot of traps to do I recommend dipping them.

I like speed dip for water traps.

This sounds like a good treatment I'll have to try some.

Ive been using mark stecks dakotaline dip the last few years. I will say after a trap is “seasoned”, and takes on a little more than surface rust, it holds a really nice coating that stays for a while. Mixes with water and dries fast. Id like to try formula 1 sometime. Seems to be a little better reviewed but a similar product. All this only applies if our coon market ever makes any recovery, otherwise the 1.5’s are sadly gonna hang out in their totes.

Equal parts Rustoleum rusty metal primer acetone.

I did some 160's for water trapping rats. They blend in well. Almost too good.
