Got some questions.
Wood VS PVC
If PVC is 12" too big ?
Single or double door ?
Wire trigger or teddel pan ?
Powered Colony vs ,bat wing/ slap in / vs guillotine vs bifold doors
Would a wooden one possibly have any kind of advantage ?
Solid door vs a jail house style door
How much air flow would be reccomended.
...I'll probably have more later but for. Ow that's about it. BTW I'm looking more at bigger striped skunks vs the little spotted civits.
Thanks

8" is plenty. Other than that, style is personal preference. I build and use about every style you listed except for powered doors. Skunks will dig and wreak havoc on a wooden one (imo) plus if one sprays you will play heck getting the smell out.

Solid vs bar door will depend on you plan for euthanization.

Air flow will depend on how early you check them. But even two bar doors in 80-degree heat won't help much.

6 to8"
Mine are all 6

I've had 1 skunk in 20 years need a bigger cage to come out into the trap on ADC

I wrapped a 12 x 13 in taxpayer and gorilla tape to catch that one trapped under a porch.

Leave a poke hole that a 12cc syringe will fit through, its tough to get a good stick if the tube has no light to see what your doing so keep that in mind building them.

Years ago I took the trappers education class in Washington state and humptulips I think is his name on here had a skunk trap that is awesome. PVC trap with a valve on the end. When caught he just runs co2 from a tank into the trap and dispatches skunk spray free. It is really ingenious

I like the drop down ring locking door traps .
Use them for everything , and if you catch a skunk , just use an old blanket to cover it .
Take it where ever you want , release is just rolling the cage over on it's top , if live release .
Euthanize by your method if need be .
Most call them Williams traps , but there's better ones out there .
Only draw back is they don't set flush with a building like a guillotine door trap , but an adaptor will solve that .
Each to their own , whatever works for you , just don't limit yourself !@

I made some guillotine style, very easy to make and use. The only downside is the wind can blow them shut on you.

Swing doors seem less likely to freeze or jam like a drop door can a little file mark on the door rod of a swing door help combat the wind from closing them and we have wind.

I have two that are made out of sheet metal.Don't know who made them. On the back end is a large nipple that a car radiator hose fits on. The treadle is like any cage trap. The hose is attached to the exhaust pipe of your vehicle and the skunk is dead in minutes

The door material

Use roundstock for the doors...they don't blow down

Like jail Cell bars

Is there a Youtube video or website that sells the doors, etc to make your own? Thanks.
