Since Cabelas went to capital one, lots of people i talked to were not happy for various reasons.A few days ago i went to renew my Trappers World subscription by phone. Denied numerous times, call capital one go through all questions, with non English speaking idiot. then be told you Should be good now, then denied again . I could buy a house on my credit card but they wont let a 40 dollars charge go through. Now i am looking at new credit cards, any suggestions? Have good credit, don't travel. a company with good customer service. I am not very computer savvy.
I can't say enough good things about Tom at Trappers World, very understanding and patient. with all my phone calls.

Mine is through my local credit union. 9.99% interest I can stop in to pay off ot do so on line. If I need to speak with someone I can walk into any branch and so.

Had trouble with mine yesterday as well over a 30 dollar charge, I charge thousands a month on it, it's time for a change.

I have about 6 platinum cards and All i can say is in 20 yrs I havent paid a dime in credit fees. I use for the perks i.e. free meals at red lobster,golden corral etc. I think the one I have the least probs with is chase.

Interesting...........I call them every month and pay it off over the phone. This last week I called and they said I had been charged $35 for a late fee because it hadn't been paid last month. I DID pay it, it just wasn't posted. I talked to a human and got it dropped. This crap will only get worse. Also I have got several notices that something has been charged to a card or Paypal or something. It's always a scam, someone trying to get me to give them personal info. HINT!! If you call and a live person answers right away, it's a scam. Otherwise you get a robot and go through the push 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 crap.

i have never carried a balance on a card other then 55 cents back in 87. But after some of the language i used yesterday wouldn't be surprised if they cancel me or arrest me.

I’ve been using my Cabela’s card to cover purchases until the insurance check gets here to pay things off I’ve used it a lot in the last couple weeks no issues yet and I’m not a big card user so I expected a call or email from them asking questions but that’s not happened yet.

I’ll get the points from Cabela’s then the 11% from Menards that should be a sweet pair of rebates in the end.

Having more issues with PayPal this week the checkout system just stopped during a purchase then it went through so I was billed for the first order minus the tax/ shipping then charged again for the whole amount a second time.

PayPal said there was nothing they could do until the company accepted the money the company said they don’t show any second activity yet it came out of my account. They said they fixed it the other day but they canceled a different order so it’s a mess to straighten out now.

We cancelled our Cabela's credit card once Bass Pro took over.

If you're responsible with them they are a great tool, ive had one for 14 years and have a 800 credit rating. Also get 750 bucks or so to spend at cabelas every year.

I remember when I got my walmart card thru them to save a couple cents on gas, not 30 days after I got it they got hacked and every bodies information was on the open mafia market. I never did see any bad things from that. They send those cards out with a bunch of bells and whistles preset, such as limits etc. When I first got mine I went to walmart and bought groceries and put it on the card. Then went around back and bought 2 tires and they wouldn't let it go thru. With 3 people behind me in line I whipped out another card to pay. In the mean time feeling like a fool having my card declined. Then I got text telling me suspicious activity on my card, using my card to much, can you imagine that! Needed to contact them while I had 3 people waiting in line behind me. Don't remember particulars what all I had to change, but haven't had any problem since, maybe because I seldom use it.

Having the cards and not using them can impact your credit score as crazy as that sounds a little debt on paper is not a bad thing today. Use it then pay it off right away keeps your credit score up.

my 18 year old son just got one through the local credit union , he pays the thing off the same day from his phone but it gives him the credit card protections for online purchases and he earns rebates on his gas.

I dis-like credit and being in debt, but if used responsibly only when you have the cash in your account to transfer at the card then it is a good tool in modern banking.
