Long story short, I was offered a job yesterday working 4pm-12am making 46$ an hr. guaranteed 10+hrs over time with per dim 105$ per day cause I would drive over 10 miles. Worked there few years ago an left to be self employed. I’m in the concrete pouring an finishing business. Im happy doing what I do, but could also add that to it. I don’t make that much doing concrete, but I’m happy an make my own hrs. Winter comes I can afford to take off an trap for 4 months. Yes that guaranteed check would be nice. But like I said it ain’t all about money. An by the way that is 158,860$ a yr. before taxes. Life is short an I’m gonna enjoy it. Stay debt free an live free. Not bragging one bit, y’all are just the only ones I can talk to

Just remember we are heading into a recession. Self employment may slow down in the coming months, but it sounds like you can Handel that..

I'm trying to get there myself. To bad it feels like my wife has other ideas on what's important to here.

Money can’t buy you happiness but being broke can make it a rough road. Glad you’re in a position to turn it down.

As long as you have enough to have all the things you and your family need for a happy healthy life, and be able to put away a bit for later in life, anything beyond that is meaninless.

I’m 29 an single with no children. Won’t bother me a bit to go live in the mountains with nothing but what Mother Nature provides. Its all about happiness. Too many people work till retirement an pass within a few yrs. I’m going to enjoy my time on earth

Go for it, most of us here did just that. But it is getting harder every day to do what you want.jk

Sounds good tell you get hurt to health gets bad. Then you didn't put money back or plan for retirement. Then you hear about seniors that have to pick between food or meds because they have no money. But few young ones think about this. .

Have fun and carry on

I would take that in a heart beat, make money when you can but live frugally. Have a 5 year plan, save your money cause things change. Get married and have a couple kids you'll need more cash.

we have had techs I work with go make douple the money for out customers , usually they realize about 6 months in they are never going to get a break , not going to be able to take a vacation or a night where no one calling will be guarrenteed.

they may not own you but they sure think they do when they dangle money like that

they couldn't offer 158K if they weren't in a position for it to save/make them 200K

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Ah , the folly of youth.

....you need to plan on life's curve balls. Believe me I never thought I'd have a life changing stroke. Or that our $150.000 annual income would ever go away

Rat Masterson ^^^ has it Right

Put away , and make that a game ...play it till you have your Goal

I just put my 2 weeks in for my retail management job I have had for 15 years to go help my dad on the family farm. Already feel better than ever. The money will be no where close to the same, but I might actually enjoy Christmas this year. Luckily I have a good wife who will keep us insured with a good, steady income who is fully supportive of my move.

Ever heard of a $105 perdiem for driving over 10 miles. I would be rich working 34 years and driving more than 10 miles a day

I'd be tempted. If I could manage that job and my current job I could retire in 3 years instead 10 to12 but it would be a hard 3 years.
