I just acquired this in a box of traps. Im no trap collector, but I suspect this one could be a worthy collector item. Can anyone give me any information on it, like manufacturing dates, is it all original, and maybe an idea of value if any?
If there are other threads from the past here on this site about them I would love to have links as well.
Thanks!

The pan says WOLF. That’s a plus, means it an older model. The raised letters on the pan are a bit worn, which will affect the value.

Can’t tell about the chain because it is tangled up.

A nice find. Others will add more info.

I think the chain might be a replacement but I’m not sure. Most 4 1/2 chains I’ve seen are a Y chain. Shaped like the letter Y, have a drag on one end and a dog snap on the other.

Hopefully snakecollector or some other expert will chime in and tell us all about this trap.

Thanks for posting.

The trap has the original chain the y has been cut off along with the original drag. It’s a decent item but not a great item. Probably around 1913 date of manufacture. Value could reach upwards of 500 on eBay subtract their take of 25 percent.

Send that to me for a year, and I'll catch a wolf in it for you, and then send it back. That is if gas isn't $10 a gallon by then and we are not in a nuclear winter.

I seriously considered catching a beaver with it.
