Terrible that countries would continue to buy Russian oil and gas during this invasion.

Must be some really terrible country's.

But it's carbon footprint is less than domestic oil. It's all about the environment ya know.

Joe Biden bought oil from Russia as troops were headed into Ukraine. This is after he shut down permits for drilling and the Keystone Pipeline and other names of domestic a means of obtaining our own oil in the United States. Which you could make a legitimate argument raised the price of oil which is actually funding the Russian invasion of Ukraine

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia kept fuel oil exports to the United States close to its record-highs in the first six months of this year, as Washington looks to replace the heavy Venezuelan barrels it stopped buying a year ago, traders said and data showed.

The U.S. imposed sanctions on Venezuelan oil last year in an effort to squeeze out President Nicolas Maduro. While facing a drastic fall in revenues, Caracas re-directed some flows and Maduro kept his position.

July 2020.

You do understand that I live in an Oil producing State that has been in a recession the last few years? Biden was never elected, or has that story changed? Alaska did not vote for him, but I'm sure New England did. Thanks to Trump and Biden I'm burning gas from last year and the year before. Believe me when I take my snow machine out, I don't lose money because I am not trapping $10 beaver. smile

Since Canada and Mexico both export oil, we should purchase their crude. I also expect that at $95 per barrel, a bunch of tapped wells will be opened here, and be profitable.

Maybe the pipeline issues will resurface again.

Under the present administration the US will never produce more oil than they are now. In order to make the green deal more palatable make fossil fuels as high as they can be. Biden has painted us in to a corner with no way out. Same as all the manufacturing that migrated to China, no way out.

"Over the past month, oil prices have been on a steady rise. On December 23rd, WTI closed at $73.79. Since then, prices hit a high of $86.96 on January 19th. On January 21st, prices closed at $85.14.

The Energy Information Administration published their most recent Short-term Energy Outlook on January 11th. The EIA continues to point to uncertainty around the pandemic, winter weather, and supply levels as the primary effects on prices.

The January 21st Baker Hughes rig count report shows 604 active drilling rigs in the US. One month ago, the total active rig count was 579, and one year ago it was 378 rigs.

The oil rig count is currently 491 rigs, compared to 475 one month ago, and 289 last January. The gas rig count is 113, compared to 104 one month ago and 88 one year ago."

Drill baby! Drill!

That probably won't happen on public lands.

The rig count in Dec 2019 was 1104 and that is why we have fuel prices like we do.

What is the minimum price per barrel that will get US producers to fire up their equipment? (Adjust for current inflation levels if you think that gives a clearer picture)

I don't know the answer to that Mike, I really wish I did!

I've been in the O&G and mining industry since 2007 and last time oil prices were this high, I was killing it with work. Work, work, work, everywhere. A lot of my family are also welders/fabriactors, etc in oil field and they were killing it too.

Now, the oil prices are as high or higher and the work is just not out there. It is starting to pick up a bit, but nothing like it was. The inflation crap must be really hitting the producers as well.....I just don't know, but it sucks!

With high oil prices we should do good with all the cats we export to Russia right?

Understood Chancey. Baker Hughes is one of our customers. I've made a pile of money keeping the lights burning and motors turning at some of their facilities.

But that work has dried up for the most part. Build back better my ---.
