I have some of these, pretty rusty, can't read the pan, 1-1/2 size.
Chain and swivel look VICTOR.
Pan mount id formed sheet metal and the leaves have a strange twist at the end of the upper eye.
Is the twist factory ? or a mod ?
Looks like it would serve the same purpose as the dent some use to lower the loose jaw.
Any history on these ?
Thanks

Pretty sure it's a triumph trap. The bend in the spring was done on purpose to as you guessed lower the loose jaw. The part where the pan is attached is also a triumph brand feature.

The collectors will tell you these were called "barrel traps" are were made up (factory) out of the left over Victor, Triumph and Diamond parts. Yours appears to be a Triumph spring and frame.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Pan attachment and spring are Triumph for sure. Is there a “V” cut in the pan?

Some time in the 1930s, Victor bought out / took over Triumph Trap Company. Could a trap from that era where Victor was using up spare Triumph parts.

Basically a user trap since the pan is not readable.

That whole trap is Triumph...Look at the pan post. I don't think there is any victor about that trap...The only similarity is they were both made in the same city, Oneida NY...

No V in the pan. Nothing legible either.
Good to know what it is, thanks.
That twisted eye doesn't seem to help much as it tends to twist the whole spring when set, not really lowering the loose jaw much.
The "dent" in the others lower eye seems to work much better.
Thanks again,
smile
