I don't know where they're going but I know all sheet goods are back up to insanely high prices after a brief drop. Solid limber is still high too but not as crazy as sheet goods.
Eh...wot?

At Lowe's here, I've seen a steady climb in 2x4s. Around mid October, they were close to normal. Around $3.50 When I stopped in November, around $4. January $6.48, then last weekend, $7.09 In talking to a couple buddies in the construction trade recently, they are hearing rumblings of a continuous climb. In any event, if one has projects they need to get to this spring or summer, it may be wise to stock up now.

Prices are going up right now. Lumber futures show the same exact thing happening this year as last year. Prices hit sky high around May and then begin to come down in June and July. By the end of August they are back down to normal. That's when you want to be framing
Gotta live up to the nickname...

New fox, the only increase I’ve seen in softwood logs, is White Pine. But, with that increase in W Pine logs , also comes with an increase in the stumpage price for those logs. So in reality it may put more money in the landowners pocket, it doesn’t put much more $ in the loggers pocket . Add the huge increase in fuel , and oil prices,(Shell Rotella 15w40 around $800-900 a barrel ) it’s still a struggle.
The real kicker is spruce/fir logs shipped to Canadian stud mills, price has dropped but lumber cut from these logs has increased in price.

Just a thought for a fellow Hoosier, if it's practical for you. Find someone with an old coop, loafing shead, barn, garden shead, that needs removed offer to remove it for free. Careful when you take it apart. Clean and reuse the lumber. More work but free lumber. I've got three loafing sheds tore down stacked on a trailer I've been useing the old material to maintain the sheds still out there for 3 or 4 years. Even had offers to buy the treated 4x4's, no sale. Old barn wood is worth its weight in gold to some folks. Sold some to a fellow a few years ago for a fair price, he used it for his man cave walls. Old hand hewed beams with dowel holes are priceless. Case.
