Yep I refill them. Only the Worthington tanks. Not the Colemans with the plastic cap on the bottom, just don't like them. They have a stand now, holds the 20# tank upside down, It has 17.5 ounce tanks designed for refilling.

A $10 brass fitting to fill those 1#ers is pretty cheap compared to the ridiculous price of 1# bottles at the store. I've been refilling them for over 25 years. I don't care what brand they are. I purge off any excess gas and fill them until they weigh the right amount on my meat scale. I'd go broke buying bottles for my portable heaters/cookers!

I used to refill 1# bottles. Till I seen one start leaking in the back of a trailer full of camping gear. The whole trailer was full of flammable LP gas. Since then I have bought a couple new 5# and 7.5# little propane bottles and also have bought a couple hoses that have the same threads on one end like the 1# bottles. Hook stuff up to those bottles or a 20# bottle. As far as using propane for lanterns when we camp or go on hunting trips, I find myself doing that less and less with the advancement of L.E.D. lights and rechargeable batteries.

Can you refill them from a 1000 gallon tank?

Well I smoke cigars in my shed, a lot. Would this be a dangerous practice to refill and store in my shed?

Can you refill them from a 1000 gallon tank? Only if set up after a pressure regulator.

Can you refill them from a 1000 gallon tank? You only get vapors. The tank has to have a dip tube, into the liquid propane.
