I have the same pair here in South Dakota and add in two ringnecks each day at the yard corn. In a real tough winter a couple years back I fed 300 bushels of corn. That year we had 70 turkeys but this year that big flock has moved a couple miles down into the valley so I have not yet had to feed them and we also have many less deer than normal.

was wondering what kind of squirrels those were,we dont have them around southern MN Are you sure they ain't down there... Mostly nocturnal and not seen very often.... They also eat meat and can be a pain in the butt at some trap locations.. I had two at the same time get caught in a 220 box, one in each jaw...

The range maps do show them in Minnesota, but they are like other squirrels that are out and about..

Those flying squirrels look neat! Have never seen one - guess I need to get out more. Are they squirrels or something closer to a sugar glider?

Are they squirrels or something closer to a sugar glider? That sounds like an ailment the morning after drinking 14 White Claws.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Those flying squirrels look neat! Have never seen one - guess I need to get out more. Are they squirrels or something closer to a sugar glider? Flying squirrels are in Sciuridae like other squirrels. Sugar gliders are marsupials. They look similar because of convergent evolution. Flying squirrels are very common over most of their range. They are nocturnal, so most people never see them. If you sit out at night in a forest, with a good mast crop, you'll likely see an amazing number of flying squirrels. Keith
