Rob, do you have a kill pile near the house? I remember Lynn Rogers the bear expert saying that bears can wake up in January and February if they are hungry but go back to their den right away. Hope it's not a female looking for a date.

It rolled the empty trash can around a little but otherwise everything appears ok. I will look more when it gets a little lighter out.
I have nothing clever to put here.

It doesn't appear that he got into anything around the buildings just cruised through.

That is interesting about the rabies. Like I said, this isn't "uncommon" here and I get one out and running around about every 3-4 years.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I've never seen that past December And if they cause damage to the house and a kill tag is issued, they confiscate the bear. Perfect. I wouldn't want it anyway. I bet the hide would be nice though.

When I observed them not denning there was always a constant food source like unsecured livestock feed.

If lots of wolves could of been dug out of its den by them, follow the tracks and you will be able to find where it is denned up, or was denned up.

It looks to me like the weather yesterday and last night had all the critters on the move.
I did roust out a sleeping bear while dozing in a timber sale this time of year. Was real surprised how they can go from a dead sleep to flat out hauling the mail in a matter of seconds... Raise the blade, stick it in road gear and get after the diaper eater.
I have nothing clever to put here.
