Currently I just use ground up castor, how does one use the oil sacs? Ground, or just squeeze in with the castor? What about willow sawdust in with the mixture (no poplar around here)?

All I ever did for many years was to take castors from a different river system, turn one castor inside out in put it in a jar with a lid. When at the set, add a little water from the stream to the jar, shake vigorously for 5 seconds, and pour out on a castor mound. You can do this over and over for years with the same castor if you like. Never had any spoilage. Caught every beaver I tried to catch with something that simple. Sometimes I would add a squirt of the oil sacks to the jar as well. All very simple and 100% natural. I patented that system. Let me figure out how much you owe me for copyright infringement!

We use the sac oil by itself YJ. Keep it way from the castor and use it as a change up. Just squirt in a separate jar I'm assuming?

I've had great success with Dale Billingsley Brand Lures in Chips or Cypress Breaks.
Also....ADC makes a great beaver lure too, that is thick and heavy castor based..

I did that back in 86 thru 90 when I started making a more complex lure. ( Thanks Merlin Ladd) Caught a lot of Beavs too

Most effective lure Ive found is to keep the castors and sac oil from ONE beaver in a seperate jar. Use as needed. So, do you add anything, or just grind up castor from one beaver, and then squeeze the oil in?

Thanks SW I haven't kept even one single oil gland, maybe I should start! That sac oil is the best stuff you can use to pull in the last 1 or 2 beavers.

Can you mix sac oil from different beaver together? Yes. I squeeze all them into one bottle. If I get too much on hand, I've traded it to lure makers for "store credit".
