Honestly. The journal’s of Lewis and Clark. For the second time. There is some repetitive stuff in there but overall it’s extremely hard to put down. Reading firsthand accounts of how our ancestors conquered a wilderness is exciting. The discipline and determination of those men is astonishing. Nowadays we complain about getting wet while outside. These men endured the Pacific Northwest with almost no shelter and traversed the Rockies twice with almost zero food. They spent something like a week in view of the Pacific Ocean but were unable to get there due to weather.
