Hey everyone,

Thanks to all the help and advice given to me by members of these forums, I've found quite a muskrat area... dozens of holes, trails, several hundred tracks, scat, etc. all within just a few yards. Because I am new to trapping and this is the only area I have access to so far, I want to be sure that I "strike" at the right time so as to get the best quality furs in the end and not waste the resource. We are having an abnormally warm winter here in VA with high temperatures of 55-65 most days. It is about to get much colder, with highs of 35-40 most days, gradually decreasing after that. How long will it take before the muskrats "react" to this change by growing more fur?

Thanks!

-Isaac

Temps have nothing to do with it. Fur primes the same time every year, health and nutrition can cause it to be delayed.
