Please remind me again: Pre-mix for a Tundra II, 40.1 or 50.1?

After the second time of finding the oil pump working it's self loose I am finally switching over to premix.

50.1 ratio may be the way to go, not sure how good the air cooler is on the rig. Should be better for the engine to run a little cooler

50 to 1 is what I ran. You will go through more oil than running the oiler, but better safe than sorry. When running the oiler it uses more oil when warm out, while premixing you need to run the heavier mix all the time. I had a 00 and an 08. Ran them for 15 years with the oilers without a problem. . . then siezed them both up in the same week. We had -15 to -20 temps that week, unusually cold for here. My theory is that they have plastic gears in those oilers and after they were worn and/or brittle with age, the cold temps caused the oil to be thicker and the old plastic gears stripped trying to move the thick oil. Not sure if that is true or not, but I know that it is better to be safe than sorry and after that I ran premix gas until I switched to a fourstroke.

A pint to 5 gallons works for me. Or a quart to 10 gallons. is easy to remember.

On the mixed gas containers I place a band of black electrical tape on the handle to show that it is mixed.

funny how that has been used several times when you need a small piece of tape out on the line

That's how we do it in the villages here too, half a quart for five gallons or one quart for ten, boats and snowmachines

Its simple here.We use litres and millilitres.Simple for any amounts.
25 ltres of gas half ltr of oil,
5 ltrs of gas- 100ml of oil
Etc.

40 to 1 is 20 litres of gas to half litre of oil.etc.

I run everything at 50:1 and have for decades with no issues. That includes a few Tundras. I never trust the auto injection systems.
