Dirt, I hope you realize that fur trapping for a living is not gonna happen again in our lifetime. You should come on over to the "mostly hobby" side with most others on Tman. It's a lot less stressful. I'm making a living trapping this year, when combined with the mushroom business. Time and expense is minimal as most of that is covered by mushroom profit. Similar to your ADC money then add your terrible raw fur prices. Most of my fur is not sold as raw fur, except for marten. Been that way for 30 years. I don't find trapping all that enjoyable, so it would not be chosen as a hobby. Thanks for the offer. My ADC income only pays for a couple of hunting trips and related accessories. Some years better than others. Trapping is not a hobby for me either. I enjoy it but the better you are the more work it is.

I always thought a bigger return for less work was better.

IRS doesn’t recognize hobbies as ways of making an income.
When you admit trapping is a hobby it makes it easy for the anti trapping people to outlaw trapping since it’s a hobby!
In a free society it’s okay for someone to work for less money and have the right to do so!
I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

In a free society anti trapping twits can't outlaw something because you call it a hobby.

I always thought a bigger return for less work was better. I think he meant the better you are the more work you get which equals to more work/labor. Dont mean to put words in peoples mouths but thats what I got out of it. But yea- Im all for less work and bigger returns.

I always thought a bigger return for less work was better. Was referring to fur trapping as a hobby. The more you catch...the more work you create for yourself. My ADC work is not full time...not even close. But it's the same...more you catch...more you have to work...but you have no choice doing ADC......

Make several grand working your hobby....dont report it....see if IRS recognizes it. Isn't hunting and fishing considered hobbies? Do the antis try to outlaw those? No body wants to work for less money as their goal.
