Planning to take the hounds out with a friend or two next month to Colorado. First time after a lion, just seeing if any of you have experiences or tips you’d like to share. I have an area picked out and have few calls out to the game biologist and local warden.

Feel free to pm me if you’d wish.

Thanks in advance!

All areas have quotas and can close instantly. Have to check every morning before you go out. Where in the state are you headed.

I hope we luck out as well. Right now it looks like no snow at the lower elevations and 32” roughly up to 9,000 ft or so. If I read the map correctly that is.

As of right now there hasn’t been a whole lot taken as far as quota goes. I’m sure that’ll change rapidly as more snow comes.

without snow you need a good strike dog and a basket in the front receiver hitch for it to ride in.

I’m hoping there is snow come January. We have some flexibility in our schedule where we can hope chase a storm out.

That seems like a small total harvest limit of mountain lions for a state as large as Colorado.

There’s more units than what I screenshot, the ones I was looking at were in this mix.

Kieth, no coyote trapping on public ground, Special permit only on private, no bears with hounds and or bait, no spring bear season, lion quotas that are no where near big enough and the biologists at Colorado Division of wildlife are saying they don't know yet why the deer herd has declined so much.

if it kills you i bet its lots better than dying in a nursing home lying in your own filth
