Looks like it’s time to invest into a skinning machine. With life getting busier and busier the wife is getting less and less pleased with the amount of time spent in fur shed in the evenings. Happy wife, happy life right? So what do I all need to take into consideration? Vertical/horizontal? Overall length/height? Etc.

Looking at the title i thought you got a home gym. Lol

You need a lot of head room for vertical.

I'd take into consideration the price of coons and coyotes...which is the 2 species you'll be using it for.

Skinning machine dont speed me up much....just saves my hands/elbows/shoulders from all that pulling. Still got to make opening cuts....clamp pelt....make light cuts as the machine slowly pulls.

If i was looking for my first machine, and not already used to the one I have, I'd buy a roller style base. They are very easy to use, affordable, and can be used with almost any ceiling height.

https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/users/54221/rookieia - this guy took over building them from me quite some time back.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/778949436283821 - same fellas.

I can show you a video of them in action if you'd like.

This is a slightly different design, I made a couple styles but they work the same as what A&J is selling now (my other design).

Great Idea he leaves way to much on the eyes and ears, easier to trim them close than cutting it off later.

I don't care about that, whoever buys my green skins can deal with that if they are worried about it. Most of them aren't.

If the wife said I spend too much time in the skinning shed I’d look for a new wife.

Better in the fur shed than the local pub!

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Yup. Especially if that fur profit goes towards paying the bills
