If they are part of a hardworking group it wont be long that others will get tired of pulling the weight for the slacker. He will get kicked to the curb, metaphorically or in some cases (like a Railroad gang) physically.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Are you functioning as a crew/shift leader? Or is a situation where you're working alongside a deadbeat coworker? If you're a frontline manager you need the support of your boss otherwise they're just setting you up for failure..

If you have a boss which I assume you do why not discuss the issue with them? I do and have multiple multiple times, they know there's a problem why nothing is done past a write up is beyond me

The sad thing is that even the store manager can't fire someone where you work without corporate approval. It was a consistent problem when I worked there. One girl would go and take an hour and a half nap in the break room every morning. She was caught by shift supervisors at least a dozen times. As far as I know, she still works there.

Make it hard on the lazy ones. Try to make them quit
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

If you work for me and can't or won't pull your weight, you're fired.
If your a subcontractor and can't or won't do the job right I won't have you do any more of my work.
I've had guys I fired try to collect unemployment by lying about the reason(s) for their termination. I always took it to arbitration and always won (they were denied unemployment benefits. It was a PITA but kept my UC rates low.

I understand my situation is different than yours but that's how I handle slackers.

The problem is if your willing to work hard they will dump extra work on you until you lose the desirer to work there. It’s easier for them to dump work on you who’s willing to do more then deal with the slackers most of the time. Sad but true.

One non dealt with slacker will typically make all of the other workers around them start to working worse. They are like a rot or contagion that spreads and corrupts.
