Has anyone ever tried using a freshly skinned and raw deer hide for kneeling on when making sets?

It's best not to kneel, less ground contact is less evidence that I was there, any rug-like pad makes a big contact area, but if kneeling the rubber knee pads sold in lumber stores work well. They minimize ground cover compaction and cushion my old knees.
imo, the smelly deer hide would distract the target from the set, lessening the set effectiveness, but no, I've not used such.

Put the attractions beyond the trap, not out in front. If you need a kneeling pad, use something neutral smelling.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

If you're trapping around where the canines have hardly any human contact, i'd use the hide. Drag it around the set when done. If they want to get the lure/bait they'll get it.
I trap around farm stuff, i could pour oil out near the set and catch yotes.

Thanks for the replies. I might try it just to see what happens. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

If you want to use a deer hide, throw it over a leaning pole in the bush by a canine travel funnel and set a dozen snares in the openings in the bush.
Its a great attraction both sight and smell and will last all winter. When they drag it around just put it back.

B S !

Same old hogwash, which carries no merit whatsoever !
I kneel at ever set. Not as easy when you're tall to squat down.
I don't have scent glands on my knees. I knell right on the ground and trust me, won't make a difference
