The carbide lamp has a head lamp and a hose down to a carbide pot on your belt. The pot holds carbide in the bottom and water in the top . Water drips onto the carbide and makes gas. The gas goes up the hose and out the head lens. You light the gas and have a head lamp for hunting at night. Coon have to look at the flame. They just can not look away. Let me know if you know where I can get one of these. Can't find one in my area..and can' find my old one..Thanks, BS

Here you go. carbide lampMost seen in the last 20 years have been yard sales or antique shops.

Here you go. carbide lampMost seen in the last 20 years have been yard sales or antique shops. Out of stock and it doesn't have the pot on your belt with a hose down to it like we was looking for Pete. I can't find very many, and maybe none for sale, like he describes on line for some reason, must be pretty rare. Maybe this one???? --> Carbide Lamp w/ Generator

We used to have a couple like this many moons ago but no idea what ever became of them. I have similar one and the soft hat and lamp mount bracket somewhere in my stash. If it would be of use holler and i'll try to dig it out.
