When one is going to spread ashes of a past life can the ashes be spread at different places or should they all be spread at the same place at the same time? I surely want to get this right..
I can catch them here...I can catch them ANYWHERE

Was there any, or specific instructions as to where from the deceased? If not, choose a place that you think they would like them to be spread:-)

My parents ashes are scattered in different places they enjoyed. At the pond on the family farm, Lake Marie on Snowy Range in Wyoming......I have specific places I want my ashes spread. Mainly where there is water and fish.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I am truely sorry for your loss. I'm pretty sure there is no firm answer to your question. The only real answer is to spread them as you see fit. Attached is a photo of one of many shotgun shells that I loaded for just that purpose; upon the request of a friend.

You may get different views if there are various religious and secular views in the family. These discussions are conversations we have every week with people and their loved ones in the Hospice and Palliative Care area. PM me if you'd like Chamacat.
Blessings, Mark

I've got a note along with my will as to where I want to be after I'm gone. My younger elk hunting buddies will take a bit of me to a mountain top in Colorado where I love to camp and chase elk. Another bit of me will be set free in NW Nebraska as I love to hunt there or just spend time outdoors up there. And on our family farms here in SE Nebraska , which me and my siblings own now..... my dad's has been in the family for over 130 years and mom's has been in the family a little less, but not much. I spent many a day and nite hunting and enjoying the outdoors on these farms. Man came from the earth and so shall he return, ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

I thought about being waxed Bill and catch one last canine. I doubt my daughter will go for it so I'm going with the original plan of being spread over the mountains that gave me much joy.

Yep..It just seem awkward to me to spread ashes in multiple places..In my mind it was more right to keep the ashes spread in one place to make the event 100 percent whole..After reading all of the posts and people's ashes being spread in multiple places for various reasons/wishes I'm good with that also now...Thanks everyone for my better peace of mind
I can catch them here...I can catch them ANYWHERE

There are two times in life that we honor the person; their birth and their death. As a culture we are moving ever towards more during the 1st and less and less at the last. Sadly, because it has consequences for a people.
As one who assists with funerals in 21st century America, with hospitals and funeral directors especially involved, we should always seek to honor the person who died; it is their death, not ours. It is their last, not ours. I work with too many funeral directors, many well intentioned, that try and alleviate grief by making the wake all about the people in the room. It's not supposed to be.
100 years ago, our forefathers brought our loved ones "home" and literally placed them on the kitchen table, or bedroom bed. They lovingly kissed them, and stroked them and said their goodbyes amidst many tears, and they cleaned them up, sometimes bathed them, and clothed them for the memorial to be held later at the house... usually that day or the next day because bodies don't keep very long.
After which, family and friends would gather at the grave site to once again say goodbye and grieve as the closure ran it's emotional cycle in people at different speeds and different levels, but each was allowed to grieve in whatever manner they wished.
Grief and remembrance is so critically important to us, so make the memorial - however you do it Chamacat - ALL ABOUT the loved one who died. The me, me, me 21st century culture wants to do all sorts of things for the ones not yet dead, but I will tell you as someone who counsels A LOT.... let people cry. Let 'em grieve. Let 'em say goodbye. Let 'em touch and feel and be a part of the saying goodbye, however that looks, to the one who died. We don't even have "viewings" as much anymore because people don't care to cry?!? Shows weakness in our culture they tell us. "Get over it." "Time heals all wounds." "Don't let them see you cry." All of these clip phrases for those still living and designed by scientists who have done us great harm. Celebrate births they say, but ignore death. Sure. Not possible unless you're a sociopath.
Unhealthy grieving typically surfaces later on as one thing: Anger. As we allow the hospitals and funeral homes to take care of what our forefathers used to do for themselves..... please remember this is a delicate subject, yet know humans are still humans. We as a culture don't like death because we can't defeat it and we beat everything, and everybody, including those nasty Germans in WWII! But, we won't defeat death in this life.
Suffering is big part of living, and can change us for the good, if we better understand it.
Blessings and sorry for your loss. Mark
