Just received 09C paws I trips to put on some Duke #4 four coil traps. The dog seems way too long. Used my pan adjustment tool to bend the dog post back but still too long and can't even get the dog over the jaw far enough to fit under the pan. I tried bending the dog itself but had to put such a bend in it that it fires once past the nipple that causes the click. Anyone have experience with this set up on Duke #4.

Original pan and bolt are removed so that the new PIT pan can grasp the crossmember of the pin that slides into the springs.

Tap your spring pin back into it's groove
That should fix you up

Did that but still a no go. The problem seems to be the jaw hitting the frame of the pan. That is why I bent the dog down to begin with but then it doesn't night latch.

Do this! Had similar problem with Sterling system with the rod dog on 60+ Duke #2's I was modifying last year.

looks like the spring pin is way too far out towards the dog. It should be inside the jaw when set.

Duke #4's are wonderful whitetail holding machines. Trappers who used them before me...... helped me get several nice ranch contract jobs laugh

The Snare shop and Northern trapline state it fits Duke #4. Other suppliers don't list Duke #4 for model 09C?

I sent Ed a email last night. If I don't hear back from him today I'll call him. Thank you all.

Spoke with Mr. Medvetz's just now. He told me the dogs that came with the PIT pan is incorrect. The correct dog should extend upwards from where it is attached at the trap then extends horizontally to allow more height to go over the jaw. He's sending out the correct dogs. Nice guy.
