What does everyone think would be the absolute fastest anchoring method to set coon traps in farmland? I was thinking keeping my traps hooked to cinder blocks but that seems insanely heavy, but it would be very fast to set and move sets as opposed to earth anchors. I can’t use drags because there’s nothing for the drags to catch on so what says trapperman?

Pogo...cut em & go. Attach another trap and reset.

Can make your own for about 20 cent each.

A good coyote drag has worked for us on fish ponds. Use 3-4' of chain. Stab the narrow end of drag into the ground till the points get buried.
Big Brake rotors work also

Most time efficient does not mean cheapest. I’d think cabling or chaining to a tree would be fast and efficient, but also has the cost of more chain and quick links, etc

Cable stakes for me. Or I guess cabling the to a tree would be faster if it is an option

That’s not an option it’s my preferred way of anchoring coon traps but when you don’t have trees it’s hard to anchor to them

Although I don't live in farmland, back in the 70's when we ran 100 plus coon traps on my line we just used a 16 penny nail and a washer through the last swivel to the base of trees. Carried a crow bar to pull the nails with the trap. This was always on private property. Nothing was faster and easier on a long line.

Dog proofs or open jawed traps?

I’d be inclined to just run 16-18” of 3/8” rebar for dog proofs. Pretty fast going in and out depending on soil type. You said farmland so I assume a loamy, lighter soil type.

Open jawed traps you’ll have to over stake if coyotes are around.

Wolffangs on 15 inches of cable. Just clip and go . Takes 15 seconds to fasten a new one on. If you make them yourself, about 60 cents a piece.

Is he walking Into most of his sets? If so hauling disposables would be a lot easier.

Nothing wrong with rebar.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I use cinder blocks and brake rotars and long steel plates with holes in them. All my dps have cable attached to them. So in areas like that. Where I can simply drive to each set. I lay out one of those weights and just fasten a few dps on each one. To me. Its seems quicker. And pulling seems easier too. Like my steel plate I will have 3 attached. Cinder blocks 2. Its just me. But I always like exploring different ways on doing things.
