Found some old trapper logs from a government trapper in the Wyoming/Idaho area in the 40’s. Is there anyone out there who knows of or has heard of Wiley Allen Trout? Had some pretty cool experiences in his logbooks. Just curious if anyone knew anything about him.

I know nothing about him but it'd be cool to read the logs.

Wiley A Trout was born ca 1887. In the 1940 Fed Census his home was in Millburne, Uinta, WY, and his occupation was listed as "Trapper", and "wage salary working in Government" Annual income $2000. Wife; Alberta age 35; daughters at home were Dorothy 12, and Majorine 10. He died in Idaho 15 Dec. 1968

That's a good list of rules to live by, even in a general sense.

A $2000 salary in 1940 is equivalent to $39,000 today. Sounds about right for a government job

Sounds like he had to pay for his own upkeep (and gas??) on the vehicle, as well as do the maintenance labor. Back when I was a seasonal G-man we had government credit cards for paying all that, plus each vehicle had a regular service schedule at a local dealership.
