Sounds crazy but my 2002 Tundra did that after changed out a bad battery. Had to turn on the AC as that tells it to high idle. Then drive it for at least 5 miles. It was said it had to relearn the new battery. Battery changeIf don't work google it for your make and model.

Don't ya'll wish it was the 70's again,....so you could jump in the engine compartment , sit on the inner fender wall and actually work at an engine and find the problem

A couple years ago a buddy and I were going turkey hunting. All of a sudden we are down to 5 mph. It was a Sunday so nothing open. I remembered my old laptop would freeze up and the only way to restore it was to pull the battery. So.....we disconnected the battery for an honest 15 minutes. Hooked it back up and all was well. Need to give the computer time to clear its memory. Don't take 15 minutes to clear my memory-all I have to do is walk down to the basement. then the wondering starts..........

No Woodtick, I don't wish for vehicles to be like they were in the 70's. Brakes, hoses, belts, and shocks lasted maybe 20k miles. American made cars were crap. Being able to work on one I do miss. thats my point Edp, Being able to work on one I do miss

Fully charged battery new cables and tight unhooked battery for over an hour just turns over lots of battery juice just wont fire. Possibly a security issue. Does she have any other keys?

I reckon there aint no gas in it. Wouldn't that be funny. Reminds me of a story. I was about 11 or 12 years old and my grandfather was working on a boat motor. He was a really good shade tree mechanic. He had this motor in a 55 gallon barrel of water to work on it, with a hose going down into a gas can to supply the fuel. He spent over a week and no matter what he did it wouldn't run and he couldn't figure it out. I shadowed him around a lot as a kid, and I was out there with him and he was grumbling about how he couldn't figure this stupid thing out. My eyes fell on the gas can and I said, "Grandpa, isn't that the Kerosene can?" He looked at me real funny, then walked over, yanked out the hose, and smelled it. Fired right up when he put the hose into a can that actually has gas in it, lol.

Sounds like you need to reset the Anti-Theft system. Look it up in the owners manual. You could try locking all the doors and unlocking with the key fob or unlocking the drivers door with the key. Sometimes it's that simple,as I said lookit up in the owners manual or try Google.
