How many people weld their S hooks between #3 chain and their staking system shut?

Have to if I want to pull my super stakes out of the ground. If not the s hooks opens up and unhook.

100%, it’s a must using super stakes. For the 3 seconds it takes to tack an s-hook shut it doesn’t make sense not to.

Must weld them. I see you also in pa. 90% of the time just driving them into the ground around here will cause them s hooks to open up. I wouldn’t trust one not welded. Not worth the risk IMO.

Most trap thieves don’t carry tools.

I would hope everyone who uses them has them welded. The ones who don't will lose traps to coyotes and thieves fairly often. I also weld the j hooks shut. Doing this allows me to pull most traps with my atv winch by hooking the tip of the winch hook into the swivel. When they aren't welded the j hooks pull open.

The system is only as good as it's weakest link. I even weld my J hooks.

If using wolf fangs I don't worry about it. Chained superstakes get welded shut. They cost too much to leave.

I use 5/8 lock washers instead of s hooks and they get tacked

Weld everything that you think you might catch a coyote in. Even wolf fangs. If you don’t, you will wish you did.

Have had the cable stake slip past the hook when pull out ground if didn't pull by loop in cable stake an I inspect s hook after pull, I don't trap coyote much but if any s hooks, welding would be good
