My lab mix turned 11 this year and it's the first summer I can remember that she hadn't killed a wood chuck. She comes from a long line of wood chucking farm dogs. She changed that today. I spotted something odd and white in the field today and then noticed Lucy sitting quietly and watching about 60 yards away. She waited and waited till that chuck got far from its hole and then she made her move. Pretty dang cool looking chuck and a proud old dog. Thought you all might appreciate it.

I like those photos. When we get older all we've got to even things up is wisdom, and it sounds like she has it !

My all purpose dog came up with a baby squirrel, he usually eats them bu today I guess he just wanted to play with it.

Gotta love groundhog killing dogs. My buddy had a collie on his farm that racked up over a hundred of them.

Back in the 60s, when I was a kid, we had a house cat ( inside- outside), that would hunt groundhogs. This cat was huge, probably 20+ pounds. It would stake out a hole and pounce on them when they got away from their hole. It would even carry the small ones back and leave them on the front porch.

I wouldve liked to see some of those fights!
