For those that use wax dirt have you noticed any change in your Coyote catch? It seems that I have a more digging and less catches since I started using it.

No issues here, and the only thing I will use here with our winters.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have when the ground gets hard, but anytime you can't use the natural dirt from the set, you're going to have issues.

You might want to try wax sand, I used it last season and it works wonders. Takes WAY less wax too. I think I did one pound of wax for 5 gallons of sand.

I find that using waxed dirt it is a little harder bedding a trap. I need to take a little more time getting ready ct done right. Try using waxed sand instead of dirt. The sand packs really good, traps are solid as a rock. If your concerned about color difference, just sift a very fine layer of your native dirt over the top.

Dig your trap beds as small as you can. Then bedding becomes less of a issue.And of corse you will be using less waxed dirt.

Been using it for 15 years or better, catch went up.
Before I used it frozen in trap with tracks all over.
I use waxed sand and any hill dirt for light cover.
Let me sugar coat this

I have the same problem with wax sand Pinky. I do still use it, but try to get by with 50/50 glycol and creek water.

My issue with sand is it will hold water on top that cannot drain through at times, the whole set area will look fine but the set itself will hold beaded water on the surface.
I like a courser dirt that drains well and is freeze resistant as it reduces contact surface.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Waxed dirt where I live is a must. It's changed my land trapping all for the better. Don't notice any more digging because of the waxed dirt. If it is dug up it is usually attributed to something else, improper bedding, scent etc

Different ways to make it and many ways to mess it up if your in a hurry. I started using a garden shed instead of the fur shed to avoid picking up unwanted odors and I started putting my pan covers out in the weather to air out. I find a old colony trap works the best to air them in and not blow away.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
