A week ago I paid $1700 for a new A/C compressor and condenser....installed. Right away a new noise showed up. The noise increases and decreases with the rpm's as the tranny shifts. Excuse me....transmission.......not tranny. It starts and stops.......doesn't make the noise constantly. Could it be a faulty A/C compressor? It's under warranty, but I'm hoping it isn't the transmission pump. HELP!

Please discribe the noise. Squealing? Rattling? Low howl?
Does the noise go away when the A/C is completely turned off?

I've listened to every component that has a bearing with a stethoscope and can't hear it idling. It starts and stops while I'm driving. It's driving me crazy.

That sounds like it is in the belts , pulleys or idlers/tensioners.

Not a belt squealing. It's a high-pitched whine that changes with RPM's when the transmission shifts. I thought idler pulley but it sounds okay with stethoscope. I'll take it back to the danged shop that did the work. I suspect a bad A/C compressor even though it is new.

Interesting. It's a 2015 Silveraydo...but it's not constant. Comes and goes.

Flip it to defrost the compressor should engage then you should see the clutch turning then.

Taking it back to whom did the work is a must. Complaints must be noted quickly after work is done to be considered valid. Sounds like the problem is only under load and that is why you can't hear it at idle. Make sure the shop knows this. Yes , it even could be a bad compressor.

Does it do it with the AC off? I'm trying to determine that. It doesn't stop instantly, but may stop a few seconds after turning off the switch.
