Made a small break and placed a #5 on a drowning rod. I didn't account for erosion in the sandy bottom and the water fell too fast. Front foot catch that resulted in a twist off.

There’s no telling with wildlife. I would put two more holes in the dam and put foot holds in front of them as well , personally.
Don’t forget breasting sticks or they may use your trap to plug the holes.
Make six slides of your own, three on each side of the waterway if possible And lure the three on the western shore and blind set the Eastern shore slides. Foot holds or well blended 330s or even snares work in those situations

Yes, I had a couple of breasting sticks in place. Thought I had accounted for water dropping and placed the trap well back and offset. But the water level fell 8 or more inches. The break is much bigger this morning and still running pretty hard.
