I bought a bunch and found out it’s all old factory reloads from a company that has since went out of business. It was 40 and 10mm about 800 to 1000 rounds of each.Anyway I was shooting some 10mm and when I got to the last round out of a box of 50 I had a blow out. There was a hole in the side wall right at the bottom of the casing. It felt funny when I shot it and I ended up with tingly hands, powder residue on my hands where the magazine was and trigger finger. Plus the mag fits a little lose now and I can pull it without using the mag release. The gun is fine I have other mags that work fine, my question is what could have caused it to happen the brass all looks good and the first 49 rounds shot fine. And what are my chances of that being the only bad round, I’m leaning toward tossing the lot or finding another use for it.

Sounds like it could have been one or more of several things. First the round didn't go all the way into battery. In reman ammo the most common cause is that the round was fired in a Glock and has a bulge. Second that comes to mind was a cracked or defective case. Third it could have had a double charge. If i didn't trust it I would at a minimum pull all the bullets, inspect every case and start from scratch.

I don’t trust factory remanufactured ammunition. I knew a guy that was a press operator at one of the “factories”.
First, they usually aren’t factories just some guys that leased a couple of units in an industrial park. Then if you’re willing to work for a little over labor wages and have any reloading experience they will be happy to put you to work usually with production bonus. Anyone who has used an automated ( not hand operated progressive) press knows how finicky they can be. Plus things like “blending powder “ cause they can’t get the exact number of the powder they need. If any good handloader heard the stories Jack told about the outfit where he worked you would not trust it either.

Pics of the brass and primer might help...

The only way to know for certain how many times brass has been fired is if you shoot it yourself... Otherwise you're taking someone else's word for it.

And sometimes you will just get a bad piece of brass...

I bought this Hornady brass new. I think this was maybe the 2nd firing... Powder charge was well below Max and the other cases in this charge group were fine. I didn't even know it had split until I went to rack it out and the bolt lift was a bit sticky. But knowing that your face was that close to 50,000+ PSI on the loose will spook you a bit.
