How can you get charities to stop calling someone. My father is 90 years old. He is still reasonably mentally fit. He likes to donate to charities there is where the problem starts. He is constantly getting phone calls from people wanting money. Instead of just hanging up on them he will listen to their sales pitch then usually tell them no 3 or 4 times before hanging up. I tell him dad just hang up on them but he says he dont want to be rude. I am totally ok with him donating money I just want to make sure his money is doing what he wants it to. I have thought about asking him to make a list of charities he donates to then I could check them out and see how they are rated. Then narrow it down to a few that he gives to each quarter. Is there any way to get the phone calls to stop.

It's not hard to wind up on a suckers list. It'll be up to him to find the assertiveness to ask them to be removed from their calling lists. Sounds like you're doing the right thing, monitoring it, helping him manage it and giving good advice.

Change phone numbers and make it unlisted.

You give to one then they sell your info as much as they can a real slap in the face.

That is a problem with many old people. Not sure of a sure way to omit those calls totally.

Do not call list. You can also do it from a computer. It takes about 2 weeks to take effect.

Just be rude, have fun with it...I do.

Drop money in the red kettles and skip the phone calls that collect your info to sell to others.

I was told the do not call list does not apply to charities. Can anyone tell me if this is true.

Car warranty calls must be OK also.

You stop giving they stop calling is how it works they are like buzzards you feed one the rest start to land.

With all the scams out there how does anyone know for sure an unsolicited call is a legitimate charity. I've heard of scams where the charity is fake. Something to think about.
