Cold will sometimes cause older vehicles to make funny noises, Dave. Just keep an eye on it - you're probably fine.
(This fine piecie of mechanical wisdom is also free for the rest of you to use.) grin

This works for me...
Pull all fuses that relate to any warning lights.
Turn radio up as loud as it will go to drown out any unusual noises.
If it doesn’t stop when you press the brakes, get new brakes otherwise don’t fix what ain’t broke.
If it doesn’t go when you press the gas put the fuse back in for the fuel gauge and check fuel level, if empty get gas, if not, fix what’s broke.
Hope this helps.

There comes a time when you can't keep sticking money into a vehicle. I've been there and threw money away into a vehicle more than once. I finally bought a different old one last month to replace my old car. I drove the old car to the junkyard and got $200 bucks for it. It had newer front hubs, brakes, and 1 caliper in it in the last under 7K miles. The exhaust was completely shot on it and it had a broken spring on the drivers side front (for the last 2 plus years). I refused to put any more money in it. Coonman from all your posts on this subject you stuck way more into it than it's worth. It's time to look for a different one. Limp this one along but start watching Craigslist or if you have it Facebook marketplace I guess has some good deals. If you have a place to keep your old one you may be able to part it out and get more for it. Also junk seems to be going up so you may want to wait a bit before getting rid of it if you go that route hopefully after some parts are sold off it.

At your current repair pace I don't think you're going to get 2 or 3 more years out it. I know it's a roll of the dice on buying a used vehicle but it seems to me that's a better option but it's your choice.

Good luck in your used vehicle search.

I disagree. He's got a truck now that is 3/4 new from all the replacement parts. No sense starting over rebuilding another one. laugh

Sounds like you put $3,000 into a $400 vechile. You coulda took that $3k plus the $200 in scrap money from the truck and bought a used one that’s in way better shape. Bad idea financially yo put more money into a truck than it’s worth.

If I was you I’d take your stimluous and buy a different vechile. Biden’s gonna give you another $3k so sell your truck for whatever you can get out of it and trade up.

Sounds like you're good to go for a while Dave. Keep an ear to the hood and an eye on the road. I've always driven used vehicles because I can't swing the money ney for a new one. If your like me you'd just trash it quick putting on miles and using it like a truck should be used. Wish you luck all the way around. Take care
