I've known this to work every time, but I cook it first. Never had time to do it yet but I might have too.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I use peanut butter or candy for mice, bacon grease for screws. Never had a vole problem yet. That might be an idea Cougarw, try a meat bait to see if it's a shrew
Boco couldn't catch a cold. But if he did, it would be Top Lot.

Cougarw what if you don't have a mouse but maybe a shrew?? They are more meat eaters than grain/seed eaters like mice. I could never catch shrews with peanut butter. Their droppings look very similar. Same with bats.
I had good luck on mice and screws with bacon.
Just a thought.

I believe I could live with a mouse before I’d sacrifice bacon. Definitely!

There is one other possibility that I know. Some spiders such as Orbs leave droppings that are similar to mice droppings. This had me pondering for a while until I figured it out. They appear a bit smaller and I attributed it to drying out shrinkage. Found spider, killed spider, no more droppings. :-)

Try painting the mouse trap blue.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Still nothing.for the weekend we will have coconut shavings in the live trap, peanut butter on regular traps and sticky traps on floor. I think I’ll have her put the game cam on the floor this time.

Sometimes you get a nimble one that can rob cheese or pb off a trigger. I've busted a kernel of corn and press it into the metal trigger, then coat with pb. Lick off the pb, then they'll gnaw and tug on the corn. Set it off every time.
For by grace are you saved by faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
