Retirement can be exciting for a couple of years, then it can become boring. If you retire from something, retire to something. There may even come a time when you miss those SOB's you had to work with. That "let's get together and do lunch sometime" with old work friends generally doesn't occur. :-)

So how many retire close to or at 50? That's my plan. My family tree starts shedding branches real quick after 60 so I don't plan on going a day past when I'm elligible. I feel that I've paid my dues and then some and would like to live a little on "my" terms before it's lights out. Anything can happen but as of now, I get out of prison in just over 3 years. As all my clients say....... "you'll never see me again", I'm actually gonna mean it!

Retirement is all about pre-planning when you're young if feasible and practical. Priorities first, even though that can be tough to put things in prospective and aside. :-)

Way to go!!! Mine started the end of April after 35 years with USDA. Great summer. Appendix and a broken wrist from a farming accident, slowed my fall and winter activities. It really cut down on trapping. I still went deer hunting. I'm glad I was retired as slow as feeding cows went with one hand i don't think I could have got it all done after work

If you have plenty to do you will love it. Farming fishing hunting trapping maintaining a house and lake cabin are plenty for me.

Congrates, sounds like you have it figured out. I only work for six months out of the year and am ready to go back to work each spring. We are all different and that makes life great.
