Bruce T, the "mane" in the photo isn't near the brisket area. I would agree with you in that the brisket area produces hair growing all sorts of directions. I have spent more time than I care to admit trying to tame some of the unruly ones to make them look a little more presentable.

Best way to describe them I just see posted above is like a cow lick.The hair simply grows that way out of place.

its from the cape being rolled and frozen. The taxidermist should have used a card and pined it down with a little relaxer on it. I see it all the time.

Hunter123, in this case it is not kinked hair from storage. The photo was taken just after the cape had been slid over the form and the horns attached. I am holding the bottom lip out of the way for the picture. I do not believe that any amount of carding and hair relaxer could get this hair to lay down.
