If any of you hear of someone lucking into a wolverine while hunting and getting it with a shotgun please keep me in mind.

Checked our trapline yesterday and the first set had caught a wolverine but someone came by on a snowmachine, distpatched it with a shotgun and took the wolverine with them. Thankfully they left our traps, but I sure would like that wolverine back.

It was caught in the Eureka area off the Glenn highway.

Already filed a report with the Palmer brown shirts, let Palmer and Anchorage fish and game know to keep a lookout when sealing wolverine. Attempted to talk with the Glennallen fish and game but the lady I spoke with went out of her way to make it clear she could not help me. Maybe I should call back at a different time tomorrow in the hopes of getting someone different on the phone?

Man! That is a real bummer! That would make me sick to my stomach if it happened to me.

Hope they catch the scumbag.
Wouldn't you just love to catch someone doing that redhanded.

Raise hades over the stiff arm from the Glennallen ADFG office.

Due to the pellet pattern around the wolverine in the snow. Pretty obvious weapon signature.

Best bet is contact Anchorage , Palmer offices of ADFG let them know shotgun used and foothold mark would be a red flag when sealing. I got lucky this way with a wolf once perp also left a cigarette butt. I got ruined wolf back DA largely let criminal off. He sealed the wolf the day after I called and he had cut all four feet off when skinning.

That sucks bud, the first coyote I caught in montana stolen.
I know it's just a coyote but it would of been my first montana pale.
I mount or tan critters that I didn't have in eastern s.d.
Best of luck to you sounds like you're on track report and record everything.
I always think wouldn't it be nice to catch someone in the act.
But than again it's probably for the better that they get away.

Let me sugar coat this

That sucks. Bound to happen in those heavily travelled areas I guess.

I would check with local taxidermist and put them on alert. If they have to be tagged have them watch for a shot gunnnd Gulo I would also get some hair from the site so they can do a DNA or at least threaten one it worked out for me one year on a cat. The game warden told the suspect he had hair he could match up and the guy fessed up. Warden told me later that DNA was expensive to do. When he questioned the suspect he got a small some hair and tissue off the cat, when the suspect asked why he stated he was going to match it up with hair from a stolen cat. Suspect told him he thought someone was not checking there traps and took it. What also helped the warden the guy bought the license the day after he stole the cat. I owe the warden a big one on that and hope I can help him out some day.

People forgot what we used to do with horse thieves.
I'd rather have a wolverine than a horse.
Harsh but true, thieves are hated and despicable. Sorry to hear about the disappointing loss and I hope by some miracle you catch the SOB.

I imagine they had words!
I'm sensitive to this, but I have a very sincere welcome otherwise I'd be somewhere else.
And I may be somewhere else anyway. We will see.
Whatever the case, you should keep it about the thread, eh?
