Got some gun bluing coming this week from Midway.Was gonna hold off ordering till after Christmass till I saw JIMMY cryin. Hahahahaa

I could see how that could easily be over looked. Regardless, the twist rate is just a recommendation, it’s not biblical. Unfortunately this is the type of things that can happen when ordering things online from huge companies and they don’t care whether you spend $10 a year or a $1,000 a month. If you really wanted to push the issue you could probably talk to a supervisor and i’ll bet they would look at your purchase history and see your a valuable costumer and send you a label to return them. However i don’t think there return policy sucks, you got what you ordered it just wasn’t want you wanted. I believe what your looking for is customer appreciation because you do spend a lot of money there, unfortunately your never going to get it from online giants. Worse yet the online giants are putting small businesses out and that’s the only place you’re going to get true customer appreciation.

Although I have my own Midway stories let’s stick to the projectiles in question.

First, there is in fact a “rule” you can use to determine relative stability. I don’t think I’d call it pure physics though. Google Greenhill factor. Greenhill was a smart guy a century ago who’s math still works.

Bottom line: twist rate needs can be determined with the length of the projectile and diameter. Some higher velocity rifles will stabilize at an inch slower than recommended, but that is usually a function of RPM ‘s being high due to increased velocity.

James, the other thing is to use a tight fitting cleaning rod and determine the actual twist rate. You might be surprised. Many factory rifle barrels come from secondary makers and the gearing on cut rifling machines doesn’t always align with fractions we like. An example is Kreiger who sells 1 in 7.7” twist .224 barrels.

If your barrel is a little faster than 1-10, and or you can push these a little faster they might spin just fine. The 2 Winchester.243s I’ve checked were 9.25 twist, but the factory said they were 1-10......

A tip for those of you who aren't buthurt babies and are still using Midway as you should... If you order a box of ammo with whatever else you order they will ship it all UPS thus you'll get it in a more reasonable amount of time and the tracking will be more accurate.

I just checked Midway for buckshot, all out.

It's either "Temporarily Unavailable", "Out Of Stock, Backorder OK" or "Out of Stock, No Backorder."

That's it, I'm done with those jerks!
