I'm considering getting an Avalanche roof rake.

Anyone use one? Thoughts?

Any other suggestions?

I can't add the how they work but I have read testimonies on the product and most like the product. I for one just have the roof rake and works well enough for me. I like the rake I have and does a great job not sure the other method is any easier or not.

I've had two Avalanches. They work great with not nearly as much effort as a regular roof rake. I have a roof rake that I use on a flat roof on a shed.

Best thing since sliced bread and canned beer. I have one and have used it for years.

avalanches definetly worth the price, much easier than roof rake especially on deep snow. Believe around $125 bucks but cheaper than having someone shovel your roof off. HINT... buy now as when you get alot of snow you wont be able to fine one or a roof rake.... dont ask why i know ....LOL

I have a slightly different product called a Snow Peeler. It works but it is a LOT of work. Heart attack level work. I'm sure it depends on how much and what type of snow you are dealing with.

For me, those wheels on the avalanche would be a liability. More weight to lift and more resistance in the snow.

I just watched a video online. Seems like it would work good on the dry fluffy stuff. If it's heavy and wet, or has a crust on it then I don't know.

I just picked up a Garelick roof rake. Did what it needed to do, reaches 16', didn't beat up the asphalt shingles, and cost $50. I had a thick crust on the snow on my roof. Just had an ice storm last week. Still worked fine.

I use a snow float on my roof at least once in winter-very easy to remove deep snow off the roof with the snow float.
The bigger job is moving the pile from around the house after.It hardens up like cement.

I've used the Avalanche...it works much better than a regular snow rake. In extreme cases, I've crawled up on the roof and used a push scoop.

The avalanche isn't heavy at all with the wheels. That's why I bought it. You understand that you start at the edge of the roof and push up into the snow. It cascades off sliding down the plastic. Totally the opposite of how a roof rake works.

There are two different size wheels you can get on the Avalanche. I bought the smaller ones because the larger ones will leave too much snow on the roof. There's very little weight with the smaller wheels.

I have one that must be a knockoff. It goes by the name of the Allagash Roof Rake but it's the same idea. This one has plastic runners in place of wheels. Works great as long as you get to the snow before it crusts over. Becomes a lot like work after that.

What I like about the wheels is they stop the rake from getting under the shingles, at least in theory.,

What works for me is not living where snow is a problem.

Good grief, I hate to plow the driveway let alone a roof.

I've got a steel roof and I just finished putting snow stops on the roof to keep it from coming down.

I prefer a 12/12 pitched metal roof myself.
