A local sport shop that has a good amount of trapping supplies is going out of business. He has a good amount of Hawbakers lure among others. Have never tired it, is it any good? I saw some Coyote and wolf gland #1, Ruby Red fox, a fisher lure, coon #1 and a muskrat. Thanks

I know a lot of guys don't think lure for muskrat is necessary. However when I used to trap rats I was never without Hawbaker's # 1 muskrat lure, it really does attract muskrats.
I never was very fond of some of their canine lures though.

Solid line of lures that has been around for decades.

Lures on the muskrat line are for efficiency. Quicker. Faster. Done and gone. I haven't trapper rats in a while but grew up cutting my teeth on it and lure is a go-to.

Hawbaker's Red Fox Gland Lure 100 was one of my go to lures for many years. Hawbaker's no longer makes the lures made under that name and, in my opinion, the quality has suffered. I no longer use them.

If it is old stock then yeah, buy it and catch some critters.

Eh...wot?

I wouldn't be surprised if Hawbaker's sold more lure than any other lure maker.

Wiley red 500 and widow maker took a lot of fox for me,( reds and greys ) added with some reddy red urine . Those were fun days ,and then Mr., coyote moved in and pushed our fox out of the area.

Ask how long they've had them in stock. Also, inquire where they purchased them. I think Sterling Fur bought the Hawbaker's name and lure line several years ago.

One I recall as being particularly foul was the skunk and opossum lure. It worked well for me then I realized opossums can be caught on anything.

I like Long Distance Call #600.
