To this type of headache [Linked Image]
My first trip was to the creek just to get rid of the thick stuff. Then the garden hose for about 20 min. Next will be the air hose and then the shop vac.

What to you guys do with a mess like this ?

I kind had one like that this morning too lol. I skinned it then put it in a 5 gallon bucket and kept rinsing it with the garden hose till it was clean. Then added mane and tail shampoo/conditioner and rinsed it for about another 5 or 10 minutes. Came out looking pretty good...good luck and nice catch!

When they’re that bat ok wipe off what I can with a towel and the kn skin. Then stick in a five gallons bucket and scrub all I can off and then rinse with the hose till the water comes off clean. Then wring out as much water as I can and put on a stretcher fur side out and use a blow dryer (NOT your wife’s! Lol) to dry it completely. Then flip skin side out and continue as normal. But, living in a desert I almost never have to deal with that.

Don't forget to use shampoo with conditioner. I've washed more than a few like that and if you don't use conditioner or con/shampoo you might end up with a dreadlocked mess that doesn't want to comb out

Bay shampoo or dawn dish soap, then fan dry and brush em out.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Quicker you can get em washed off when theyre warm, the quicker theyll dry if you find a convenient creek or pond.

One of the many reasons I like trapping in the forest instead of fields during periods of rain. Lot more enjoyable checking traps cruising the two tracks and logging roads.

We don’t have many logging roads here John , lol . I’m guessing this grass patch was new this year, I set in the short grass for all the obvious reasons and it just didn’t work out .

This is an older pic, you can see the catch circles in the back round and she was the worst of all of them that year.

I’ve got to go back tomorrow and pull that one , lol not even gonna try ! I will remake on the edge of that burn circle with another pipe , in taller more established grass .

By the way that coyote cleaned up pretty nice I will post a pic tomorrow after I turn it .

And the shop vac had a nice unexpected surprise, the little burrs we call beggar lice were pulled right out with the excess water.

I quit trapping when conditions get like that here. Lucky we are probably a little dryer climate here than you most years.

Don I throw them off in a running creek on my line. Loop over the snout under the canines. Pick up later. Like fish on a stringer. Then drip dry. Sometimes use a leaf blower to dry. These were mud balls.

I do something similar to yoteguts. I have a creek that runs through my property. I also use that creek to wash the salt off my traps immediately after pulling them.

Golf ball,
We had 1-2" of wet snow on top of the rain yesterday. I have a coon that looks like that. Of course it froze last night. Will be a big mess for a few days. I can't even drive near most of the traps I didn't pull before the storm.

After the running creek wash you use your washing machine on the gentlest cycle also with shampoo and conditioner.
Don’t you have an old clothes washer in your first shed for this?
They are often free or only $20 off craigslist when people are remodeling. Same with a dishwasher to clean traps with $25 or less
Run garden hoses supplying water as well as draining
