All the fur was green and from one family. Their totals (if I did the math correct) were:

Coon, $3.50 average (30 @ $1, 54 @ $3, and 41 @ $6), 125 coon= $438
Muskrats, $2.20 av (2 @ $1, 4 @ $2, 4 @ $3), 10 rats= $22
Mink, 3 bucks @4 each, 3 mink= $12
Coyotes, $10 average or $6.67 depending on how its figured (1 at "no value", 1 @ $5, and 1@ $15) 3 coyotes= $20
Beaver, (just 1?), $6

Just under $500 in fur...

$10 on coyote? Where were the sellers from? That seems like a punch in the gut even with today’s market

If they were Iowa coyotes $10.00 may be a decent price. I sold my coyotes for around a $20.00 average. Top of $40.00 then down to $30.00 and the bottom ones graded out at $20.00

Southeast Iowa, not Nevada. Two of the three yotes had "issues". The decent one GFW was only going to give 10 but bumped it up to $15 so the average was 10 for the ones that brought money. I don't think the "no value" yote went back with the trapping family, but I couldn't tell for sure. If that yote road the bus back ti Illinois, I suspect it was missing at least its tail before getting pitched in the dumpster...

There are no value coyotes out there (especially this year) and they knock the heck out of an average pretty fast. Most buyers are no longer taking really poor quality early/damaged skins at any price, and when selling on the carcass even coyotes with less than $20-$30 values are tough to buy, especially after you factor in a percentage of spoiled carcasses.

Ain’t it amazing how GFW price goes down the more prime stuff gets? Better averages for early rats than now. Classic bait and switch.

I am going to take my coon to the Jan 9th buying station near Ft city wi. Mine are all put up and all 3x or 4x with one 5x if there is such a thing. Say did Bob Waldell go on his coyote quest again this year.

prohunter1972- You have a coon skinning machine? If I heard the girl correct, you may have a "secondary" market or two with your coon besides the fur wink If so, that probably brings the overall revenue off of them coon up a bit on the price pain threshold...

This was a very sad thing to see from a trapper that paid his college tuition In 1976 through 1980 trapping. I am stunned. Marty

yes we do have a couple secondary markets. Brings our average up to around $6.75 on green coon. Still not what it was even a few years ago but way better than the doom and gloom people like to spout. Yes we do have a skinning machine.

I like this youtube show put on by GFW. It's very informational in many ways from grading to current market (per area) to knowing what NOT to skin (or even trap). I've never sold to GFW and likely never will but well done GFW. More people should watch it. Hope it continues yearly.

Yep, plenty of $10 (and below) coyotes around. In many areas they need to be looked over before they leave the trap site. GFW does a nice job explaining what they are looking for.
