Has anyone used it as firewood? If so, how did it burn? I have a few on the farm that have recently fallen over. I know it's a red oak, so it should burn well, but looking for opinions from those who have actually burned it.

Seasoned red oak is good firewood.

The key is seasoned. Seasoned properly. We have a fair amount of oak ( red and white) here. But it takes more than a year to season. Sometimes even a tad longer than two years.

Oak burns good , but needs a longer than normal drying time.

Good firewood but as said it takes a bit longer to dry well. Some reds have a distinct aroma, particularly when green, that some find objectionable. My mother forbid dad from using red oak for that reason. I kind of like the smell myself.

yup burns hot! Takes twice as long to dry like others have said. And if the trees gnarly it can be a prick to split so get your wedge out
