Well here are the pics. Not a monster but I am completely satisfied. I have lucked into some nice deer in the past but this one was earned with a solid hunt in terrible weather. So the weather stunk with heavy rain and then heavy rain snow mix and some pretty decent wind gusts. Spent first 3 hours in the stand and saw one doe. Full rain gear but still miserable. Went into the ground blind around 10:00. Stayed dry but very limited visibility. Around 11:30 decided to still hunt some. Came up over the top of a ridge and looked down. There was a doe laying down on the trail. At first i thought se was injured. She just stared at me at around 80 yards but didn't move. I crouched down and starting scanning through the scope. I spotted a second doe behind the first one in the brush.... Was kneeling for around 10 minutes scanning the brush and saw a very white "branch" in some heavy brush about 20 yards from the doe. I figured out it was a buck but couldn't see the body. I belly crawled about 15 feet to a downed log to use as a rest. That first doe just watched me and never moved. After scanning for a few minutes all of a sudden "the buck" stood up and shook like a dog. It was about 10 feet from where I had seen the antlers. I aimed and fired...twice. But the buck did not run. Finally after a minute or two he started trotting to my left (i had thrown two more shells in my shotgun while I was waiting) shot twice more and he disappeared around the knob of the hill. After shot 3 he was clearly hit but I was not too confident. Slowly moved along the top of the ridge and saw he was down. First thing I noticed when I walked up to him is that his antlers were not white at all. I am confident there was a second buck. This one picked the wrong time to stand up while I was waiting for the other one. I am confident I would never have had a chance at these deer if the weather was not so bad. That doe spotted me right off but she just didnt want to get up. Now I am nice and dry sitting in my living room....

Sit all day in climbing stand and saw one small buck. Boy it was a miserable day. Got a good coating of snow today maybe it will get them on their feet

Today... Tuesday Dec 1, 2020, should be a good day for this short Ohio Season... Got 2.5 to 3 inches of snow in Licking County, Ohio, yesterday afternoon and last night. It is 29 degrees at 8:00AM... with a high of around 34 degrees. There will be some wind 13 to 18 mph and right now it is swirling. Still snowing a little but do to stop around noon, but could get some light rain. Perfect duck hunting day... LOL!

Good luck Buckeye hunters...

Well after shooting the buck yesterday I got lazy and did not get out until 8:30. Beautiful out with the snow. I decided to still hunt again. Within 30 minutes I ran across two does. First one split but the other hung around. Thick brush but thought I made a good shot....nada followed her tracks for 200 yards. Not a spot of blood and she was moving. De que red that sit on a log and let it settle down. Not a lot of shooting and a did not really see many hunters out. Only going to hunt until about noon....pressure is off now.

I woke up around 6:00am yesterday and decided there was not much point sitting in a hard driving rain in the stand or blind on my 10 acres. When I was in my teens, twenties and thirties and probably in my early forties, I would of been out in it.

I was in the stand by 4:00pm yesterday in a hard snow, with lots of wind. Every branch, stem, weed and leaf was heavily coated in snow, greatly reducing my visibility. Two ash trees blew down, while I was in my stand. I saw lots of juncos, doves, a few woodpeckers, 2 cardinals, 1 fox squirrel and 1 rabbit. None of the wrens, titmice or nuthatches that I normally see during gun season were out.

I heard 13 shots. 1 group of 4, 1 double and 7 singles. None were close.

I should be in the stand a little before 4:00pm today.

Keith

I was in the stand at 3:38pm. I saw more birds and no mammals besides cats. There was a strong wind with very strong, occasional gusts. The largest ash tree on my property fell over sometime last night. I hope everybody else is doing better. Congratulations to the guys who got one.
