Isn't the egg trap made of plastic, and if so, what keeps a coon from chewing it to pieces?

It's a very hard plastic buck but mostly it has no square edge's anywhere on it for a coon to get a grip on it.

You will have to replace the cable on occasion,the have been beat up but mostly they get cleaned out more often without being set off more than others I have tried.I have had better results with them when stabilized.Not a fun trap to disasemble & take critters out then reset.Will catch a coon.

Only thing I don't like is the teardrop shaped hole. Must be a reason for it, butin some states it might exceed the allowed opening size in square inches.

i have no idea why it has that tear drop opening,but like you said there must be a reason,the hole is about 3" across
