I've heard that beaver will not or will seldom push through a colony trap door. I do know however that the swim-through traps work very well for beaver.

Interesting. I have caught two at a time quite often but I have always felt it was a matter of them hitting the trap at the same time or within a few seconds of each other. I have experimented with plexiglass doors, different size wire doors, and various different camouflaged doors (aquatic vegetation or sticks) and I can not get a beaver to enter a trap with a closed door by any method. I have built some stuff that would make you giggle!

Indians used nets to catch beaver-outlawed now.Too deadly. Dont see why a colony trap wouldnt work, just not practical for most beaver trappers because of bulk. They would be a nightmare under ice.

They would be a nightmare under ice. Especially when the beaver you didn't catch shove the trap out if the run and you have to try to find it again. They get cabled off now.
