I boil in lye every other year or so to clean them and it seems to take most of the dip off.

How many are ya cleaning up? I have sprayed them with brake parts cleaner and it come off instantly. Can't do a lot cause it's to pricy! I have used enamel reducer from the auto paint store. Just get the cheapest they got.Works fast.
Brake parts cleaner is nice cause it's alcohol based and leaves no residue. RD

gasoline and just wash with the garden hose and then run em twice through the dishwasher when mom/wife isnt home

mineral spirits work great and not that expensive.

Put htem in a cement mixer, with a 5 gal of small stone and 5 gal of water. In 20 min.they will be look brand new.
