most fluidmasters I'm familiar with have a slip ring on the main body. when this ring is pulled up the height of the flush valve can be adjusted and the ring pushed down to then lock it back in place. Then there is a adjustment on the fluidmaster float and that can also be adjusted. Inside the tank there is usually a horizontal line and above that the words "water line" are written. Also the top of most fluid masters can be taken apart for cleaning, it pops up and turns counter clockwise. I like to turn a class upside down over the top of the FM and turn the stop on a few time to flush it out good.

On new tioles I've not really had to do much adjustments other than the float. or a cleaning

The 5gal bucket test will confirm if that is a problem. Easy to test. If it doesn't handle that , looking at the drain is a good idea.

Thanks PCR. You're advice is always worth what it costs. laugh
I will do the 5 gal bucket test.. And it's possible the valve sprayed out the top. And I'm a professional at everything laugh so the fluidmaster was adjusted properly. This ain't my first rodeo!

Grey water That’s funny right there. I tell my guys you can’t flush something that is 8 inches in diameter and expect it to go down a 4 inch hole. Just saying Lol!!!

did you hook the fill tube to the overflow pipe? seen them ride up and spray under the lid and onto the floor.

I see a LOT of slow drains in the 100 year old buildings I maintain. I tell them them it's a blocked drain and to have it jetted out. Seems like they always want to replace all the parts in the toilet before they'll hire someone to get the drain.

Check the top of the overflow pipe to the hole where the flush handle goes into the tank. It may be too high and needs to be cut shorter. I know from experience.

You boys should work for the school system...around 100 buildings.
I've got skoal cans out of several and my best find was a tag body spray can.
When i rammed the auger in hard enough to punch a hole in it, it was the best smell
i'd smelled in a toilet ever. The skoal can work like a damper and would let the water out fine, add
paper and it would stop it up.

17years at a state college. 7- 500 person dorms. 2 -300 person dorms with community bathrooms. the 500 man dorms where built cheap, undersized piping. 4 story buildings.no cleanouts .if it fit in the toilet, we found it!
my dad worked at a state mental hospital as a plumber . you should hear his stories!
